Will Poulter, who is all set to play Adam Warlock's character in Marvel Cinematic Universe, recalled the first time he auditioned for the role in September last year. The 29-year-old actor also revealed that he began filming in December.

"I first auditioned in June of last year (2021), and that was the first time I auditioned, and then I kind of got the role in September, I think," Poulter told The Playlist in an interview published last week. "And then started shooting in December."

The actor went on to share his lack of knowledge about the Marvel character he was auditioning for. "I didn’t know what character, initially, I was auditioning for. I kind of knew sort of closer to the time (of casting) who I was reading for," he said.

Poulter shared that he was "very familiar" with "Guardians of the Galaxy" as it was his favorite planet in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Although I wasn’t familiar with Adam Warlock beforehand," he said, adding, "I was very familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy, and it was kind of my favorite ‘planet’ within the Marvel universe, if you like."

The third installment of the franchise is helmed by director James Gunn and it will also feature Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldaña, Vin Diesel (voice for Groot), and Bradley Cooper.

During the interview, the actor also praised Gunn for his creativity and tone of work, noting that he is "grateful" for working with him.

Poulter also shared how he prepared his body to get into the shape of a superhero while being hesitant to talk about it.

"I’m hesitant to talk about it because I don’t know how it translated onscreen," he explained. "That (transformation) was kind of part and parcel of the preparations, and I will say I couldn’t have been better supported by Marvel and the team of people I work with."

The actor added that his body transformation was supported by a large group of people and it wasn't something he could've done on his own. Furthermore, the actor is waiting for the movie's release so that he can speak about the transformation more candidly.

Gunn confirmed on Twitter in October last year that Poulter will play Marvel superhero Adam Warlock. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is slated to release on May 5, 2023.
