  • Prince Harry said in "Spare" that he and Meghan Markle delayed their royal tour to attend Princess Eugenie's wedding

  • King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton reportedly reacted to the baby news exactly as he anticipated

Prince Harry recounted their first baby announcement in his memoir "Spare."

Prince Harry confirmed the rumors and reports that he and his wife made their baby announcement on his cousin Princess Eugenie's big day. He detailed how they informed the members of the royal family about Markle's first pregnancy in his book.

The Duke of Sussex said they were "deliriously happy" for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, adding that they delayed their royal tour to attend his cousin's wedding festivities. He said the event also gave them "a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news," People reported.

"At Windsor, just before a drinks reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was sitting behind his big desk, which afforded his favorite view, straight down the Long Walk... He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me," Prince Harry wrote on how he broke the baby news to his dad.

"After the drinks reception, in St. George's Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armor on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate," he continued. "She was across the room, talking to [her sister] Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate, and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I'd hoped — as I'd wished."

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand also revealed in their book "Finding Freedom" that the Sussexes made their baby announcement at Princess Eugenie's wedding. However, the news allegedly didn't sit well with the bride and her family, especially her mom, Sarah Ferguson.

"It didn't go down particularly well with Eugenie, who a source said told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news," Scobie and Durand wrote.

The book also described Prince Harry's tight relationship with his cousin. The Duke of Sussex has "always confided" to Princess Eugenie about his love life.

"Out of all the Queen's grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections," the authors wrote. "Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and great fun. The two had many nights out together in London."

In related news, Princess Eugenie recently announced that she's expecting her second child with Brooksbank. She took to Instagram earlier this week and shared a snap of her son, August, kissing her growing baby bump.

"We're so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer," she captioned the post.
