  • Nick Foles reunites with Frank Reich as he reportedly signs a deal with the Colts
  • Foles becomes the latest ex-Eagle to join Indianapolis after Carson Wentz
  • Financial terms of  his two-year deal with the Colts have yet to be revealed

The Indianapolis Colts have added another former Philadelphia Eagles player following reports that Nick Foles has signed a two-year deal with the team.

Aside from the length of the contract, no details were given on the pact.

Moreover, this development means that the one-time Super Bowl champion will reunite with Frank Reich.

The current Colts coach served as an offensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2017.

Ironically, it was also the same year when Foles took over play-calling duties from an injured Carson Wentz. That move allowed the Eagles to win Super Bowl LII.

Foles' arrival thus supports a previous report where it was mentioned that Foles will likely serve as backup quarterback to starter Matt Ryan.

The 37-year-old veteran was acquired via trade transaction with the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason.

Foles will join other quarterbacks on the roster, including Sam Ehinger, James Morgan and Jack Coan.

The Super Bowl LII MVP saw action for the Chicago Bears last season but was released last May 1.

It was an anticipated move, especially after the Bears took in Trevor Sieman from free agency to back up Justin Fields.

Since leaving the Eagles, the only other team that Foles has played for is the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.

The former third-round pick also had stints with the St. Louis Rams (2015) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2016) since entering the league in 2012.

Foles has thrown for 14,003 yards with 82 touchdowns and 43 interceptions in 10 NFL seasons.

Before he was released by the Bears, branded as a class act by Foles’ agent Justin Schulman, Chicago was hoping to find a trade partner for the Pro Bowler.

But with a cap hit of $10.67 million in 2022, NFL teams opted to wait until he was released before making their move.

Other than the Colts, the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers were seen as potential landing spots.

But in the end, it made more sense to see Foles joining the Colts because of his familiarity with Reich.
