Madonna came under fire after she shared a series of pictures with photographer Steven Klein on Sunday. The iconic singer has been accused of glorifying violence by posting a picture of herself with a knife held to her neck.

Social media users also called the 63-year-old pop star out for proudly talking about people working for free.

Madonna shared "three never before seen covers" from her V Magazine cover shoot last month. She had said fans will get to read her interview with Jeremy O. Harris when the magazine hit the stands in November.

"The Material Girl" singer posted three photos on Instagram on Sunday and received massive backlash for the post.

"Art is not dead if you have the strength to fight for what you believe in !! Thanks to all who did support us and slept on couches and worked long hours and for free, all to support madame who is not only here to disturb the peace but to keep Art alive," she wrote on Instagram.

The first of the three photos in the series shows Madonna holding up the magazine's cover as she posed in front of the camera. In the second photograph, Klein can be seen holding a knife to the pop star's throat.

Many criticized Madonna for the controversial photos that she shared with her 16.9 million followers on the social media platform.

"Switch on your brain. All the women suffering abuse and being murdered, and what you post is a knife to your throat. Disgusting message," wrote one user.

"Not supportive of any depictions of violence or harm against women. Shame on you," one person wrote. "So a knife in a woman's neck is art? The patriarchal system is very happy with you," read another comment.

Several online users also condemned her for letting her team work for free.

"Why are you shouting from the rooftops that you allowed people to work for free? That is wild, you both should have more respect for the people that helped create your 'ART,'" one person said, while another wrote, "You're rich. I'm sure you can pay."

"Pretty sure that's just called labor exploitation," commented one Instagram user.
